Pregnancy relaxation

North Lincolnshire - Scunthorpe, brigg & Barton-upon-humber

When was the last time you felt truly relaxed?

Life is busy, I totally get it! You’re rushing about, trying to tick off that never ending to-do list, getting things ready for baby. It can be hard to allow yourself the ‘luxury’ of taking some time out when it seems like you’ve got so much to do, but I’m here to offer you a perfect excuse to give yourself permission for some well-earned rest and relaxation. And for the record I absolutely don’t think that time spent relaxing is a luxury, but a necessity – you can’t pour from an empty cup!

Growing a baby should not be underestimated

Whilst you’re busy getting on with your day, your body is simultaneously working its magic in the background to grow your developing little miracle; all those tiny organs, muscles, skin, senses, hair and let’s not forget those perfect fingers and toes that you will admire when baby is born. So, here’s a gentle reminder not to underestimate the transformation that your body is going through to create new life and that it’s okay to give yourself a break once in a while!

What are the benefits of practicing relaxation techniques during pregnancy?

  • Babies (yes, even in the womb) respond beautifully to relaxation techniques and it offers a lovely bonding experience for you and baby

  • It encourages optimal foetal development

  • Being able to relax easily will help during birth, as it encourages the hormone oxytocin to flow. Being relaxed during birth will help you feel more comfortable and will allow labour to progress more easily and efficiently

  • Relaxation increases pain thresholds because pain receptors become less sensitive, using these techniques during labour can help you feel more comfortable.

  • You can use your relaxation techniques anywhere and everywhere. It’s useful for bringing a sense of calm to any situation (even beyond pregnancy and birth).

  • Do you feel anxious, stressed or always on the go, with little time to yourself?

  • Would you like to take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, to relax and bond with your tiny growing baby?

  • Would you like to learn some techniques that will serve you well during pregnancy, birth and beyond?

  • Do you want to enjoy the company of a small group of other pregnant mamas who live in North Lincolnshire?

If you answered yes to any of the above, my antenatal classes are just what you’re looking for.

What can i expect from the antenatal class?

My pregnancy relaxation sessions are based on the concept of hygge. If you haven’t heard this word before, it is a Danish term which is about creating an atmosphere of cosiness to evoke feelings of contentment and comfort.

Imagine a beautiful candlelit, warm and cosy space; luxurious cushions, soft blankets and sheepskin rugs; gentle music and a hot drink of your choice, with a biscuit or two on the side.

I have lovingly created a delightful home-from-home experience, with limited spaces for the perfect intimate set up.

You can chat with other local pregnant mamas in a safe and welcoming space, whilst learning some new skills for pregnancy and birth, and taking some time just for you and baby to deeply relax.
