Hello

I’m Emily Hanton

I’m Emily, a qualified Hypnobirthing teacher and founder of Bloom in Birth. I’m passionate about improving peoples’ birth experiences and do this by helping them to release any fears (known OR unknown) they hold around childbirth; and equipping them with knowledge, skills, tools and techniques so they can feel much more relaxed during their pregnancy.

I enable expectant mumas to spend precious time bonding with their baby instead of being wrapped up in a bubble of fear and uncertainty.

I absolutely believe that everyone has the right to a good birth. As one of the most important days of our lives, birth is such a powerful experience and I feel so privileged to play a part in guiding women towards their best birth experience, whatever that looks like for them.

I envision a world where women approach birth with optimism, not fear; with confidence, not doubt; and feeling powerFULL not powerLESS.

I discovered hypnobirthing before I even fell pregnant, I knew that I really wanted a baby but the thought of giving birth filled me with dread. I had thoughts such as “its okay getting baby in there, but how on earth will I get she/he out of me” and “I make a fuss at the slightest injury, how will I cope with giving birth”. I did some research and discovered that there was a thing called hypnobirthing! I read a book (enough to reassure me that I could go ahead with my plans to have a baby) but it wasn’t until I fell pregnant that I really engaged with a hypnobirthing programme. Fast forward a few months, I had a beautiful water birth at home and met my gorgeous baby boy after just four and a half hours of labour; I can honestly say that the hypnobirthing course was the best thing I did during my pregnancy and it allowed me to have my best birth experience. You may be thinking “she probably just got lucky” - this was the reaction that some people had when they asked me about my labour, and my response was “I couldn’t have wished for anything better”. My experience could have been very different had I not prepared…the week before I gave birth, I had been told that my baby was “too big” and the health professionals no longer recommended the homebirth I had planned. However, armed with knowledge from the course, and my unwavering belief in my body’s ability to birth my baby, I decided to go ahead with my water birth at home. I’m so glad that I did, my little boy was born weighing 9 pounds 4 ounces, with no complications at all. It was the proudest and most grateful moment of my life; the power I felt after giving birth allowed me to begin the journey of motherhood with the confidence that I CAN DO THIS…

….and this is what I want for you.
